Research Interests

  • (neurophysiological) mechanisms of accurate person and affect perception in clinical contexts
(e.g. emotionality in Autism Spectrum Disorders; affect recognition in Bipolar Disorder; observability of Personality Disorders by laypersons)
  • effects of social-cognitive (e.g., interpersonal perceptions, self-reference and -distancing) and affective
(e.g. empathy) processes on the development of (sub)clinical symptomatology across the lifespan
  • effects of adversity (e.g. traumatic life events) and chronic stress on empathy and empathy regulation (e.g. self-distancing)
  • consequences of highly pronounced empathic responsiveness on affective symptomatology
  • utility of automated affect recognition in clinical contexts
